Late twenties, fourteen companions and the addresses they return to

Danielle returns to Ciné Lumière on Queensberry Place for its classic seasons, Milena to the chandeliered rooms of Ognisko beside Exhibition Road. Samanta favours the drawing rooms of The Ampersand on Harrington Road, and Michelle the deep armchairs of the bar at The Kensington on Queen's Gate. All four addresses are a short walk from the hotels of South Kensington.

Rosa pairs an afternoon at the Design Museum with the flower covered Churchill Arms on Kensington Church Street. Karolina spends summer evenings under the canopy at Opera Holland Park, and Thea likes a slow circuit of the Kyoto Garden before dinner. Guests staying in Kensington or Holland Park have all three close at hand.

Liana chooses Bibendum at Michelin House, Laura the conservatory room at Daphne's on Draycott Avenue, and Nora a glass of champagne at The Cadogan on Sloane Street while the evening light is still in the windows. Cindy begins at the Saatchi Gallery off the King's Road whenever the timing allows. From any hotel in Chelsea, each is a short ride or a pleasant walk.

Patricia returns to the Electric on Portobello Road, where the seats are armchairs and a glass of wine may come in with you. Tina starts at Rough Trade West on Talbot Road before a gin at The Distillery, and Vanessa prefers the long Victorian avenues of Brompton Cemetery at dusk, followed by supper in Earls Court.

A favourite address is not the same as a home. Danielle, Milena and Thea actually live in South Kensington, and Cindy and Michelle in Chelsea, so those five are the likeliest to reach an SW7 or SW3 hotel at short notice. The other nine cross town from Covent Garden, Marylebone, Mayfair, Belgravia or Paddington, which changes the arrival time but never the fee, since a journey across Zones 1 and 2 is already covered.

Settled tastes make planning easy. Name a hotel and a start time, and you will usually receive a suggestion back rather than a question. That quality suits longer formats, from a four hour dinner date at £900 to a duo evening, where two companions share one plan and arrive together.

Three of the four blondes are in this band, as are six of the nine statuesque companions. For a slower tempo still, the thirties and beyond band holds four names; for a livelier one, early twenties holds ten.
